LHDC HIRES CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) announced during their 44th Annual Meeting on April 20th that William T. Borders, current CEO/President of Swiss Plywood/William Tell Woodcrafters, has been hired by LHDC to be its first Chief Operating Officer (COO).

LHDC was founded in 1965 as a not for profit, community action agency, with a mission of engaging in making life better by providing opportunities, which empower people to improve the quality of life and address the causes and effects of poverty in Southern Indiana.  During 2008, LHDC provided services to 8,738 people living in 3,648 households and had an operating budget of nearly $13,000,000.  While LHDC services are targeted primarily in the three (3) county area of Crawford, Perry and Spencer, services are provided in nine (9) different counties in Southern Indiana.

The COO position was created to insure the smooth and efficient operations of LHDC by leading and managing a comprehensive array of services and programs as well as developing, implementing, monitoring and managing annual budgets.

Clayton Jefford, President of the LHDC Board of Directors, stated, “LHDC has grown significantly as an agency attempting to meet the needs of our communities.   Beginning in 1965 with a few employees and a $25,000 federal grant, the organization has evolved into an agency with 140 employees and multi-million dollars of operations and assets.  For the past year or so, as a management team and board we have been discussing how best to manage the existing programs as well as pursue opportunities for additional or expanded services to better satisfy the requirements of our clients.  We believe the creation of the COO position will assist our existing management staff in meeting those objectives.”

Mr. Borders will report to long time LHDC Executive Director/CEO, Larry K. Kleeman, and join the Senior Management Team of Gary Zellers, LHDC Deputy Director for Development and Human Resources, Lee Brown, LHDC Deputy Director for Operations, and Debbie Katterhenry, LHDC Fiscal Manager.

LHDC Executive Director/CEO, Larry K. Kleeman, said, “We’re very excited and pleased that Bill will be joining our team in this new position.  With his educational background and previous work experience, he will be a big boost to the whole LHDC team and will enable me to spend more time and energy on the development of new and expanded programs and services.”

Mr. Borders has an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.  He resides in Tell City with his wife Mary Jo.
