LHDC Accepting Weatherization Applications

As a recipient of funding for the purpose of providing Weatherization Program services in Crawford, Perry and Spencer Counties, Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) is accepting applications for assistance from residents of these three counties.

Through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), LHDC receives federal Department of Energy (DOE) and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds, as well as State Weatherization Energy Enhancement Program (SWEEP) funds, to provide Weatherization Program assistance to eligible homeowners and renters. Basic services include weatherstripping, insulation, caulking and other means to stop air infiltration and improve energy conservation. Other measures, such as repair or replacement of inefficient furnaces, water heaters, cooking stoves, and refrigerators may be performed as well.

The overall goal of the program is to conserve energy in homes and reduce long-term energy costs. A recent study of LHDC’s Weatherization Program found that homes receiving Weatherization measures had an average reduction of 18% in energy usage, resulting in significantly lower utility bills.

For further information, or to apply for assistance, contact Tammy Thompson, LHDC Community Services Program Director, at (812)547-3435, extension 231, or 1-800-467-1435 , extension 231.
